Where You Can Rest While Driving Your Commercial Truck
You may have some trips with your commercial truck that you can handle over the course of the day, but what about those longer journeys that require you to be on the road for a few days or even a week on end? Getting sufficient rest during your journey is crucial to the safety of you, your truck, and everyone around you on the roads. Here are our recommendations on where to get sleep when driving a commercial truck.
Make a Plan in Advance
It’s helpful to know what you’re going to do in advance. Look over your route as soon as you get it so that you can look up places to rest along the way. Make notes of any rest stops or places to eat that you may want to use. If you have several points that you can pull off the road during your journey already established, you won’t be driving for miles while tired, trying to find a place to stay.
Look For Truck-Friendly Places
Not every place to rest will have the space to accommodate your truck, so be mindful of this when planning where to rest. Obviously, truck stops are ideal, but you may also want to look into stopping at casinos, big-box stores, strip malls, and other places that might permit you to park overnight to rest, if you don’t ind a hotel in the area or want to sleep in your cab.
