1. Iowa 80 (Walcott, IA)
This truck stop proclaims itself the World’s Largest Truck Stop, located between Des Moines and the Quad Cities on Interstate 80 in eastern Iowa. There are over 1,000 parking spaces for tractor-trailers, buses, and cars, and it’s open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You’ll find the standard showers and gas you need, along with eight restaurants, a barber shop, a chiropractor, and even a movie theater at Iowa 80!
2. Little America (Little America, WY)
Located in western Wyoming, Little America is both a census-designated place and a small motel and truck stop on Interstate 80. The original stop was built in 1952 and it was designed as a haven for travelers in the middle of nowhere. There are 140 motel rooms and an impressive 55 gas pumps for truck and car drivers. If you need a break while driving across Wyoming, you’ll find it at Little America.
3. South of the Border (Hamer, SC)
Just under the border with North Carolina, you’ll find a truck stop that calls itself America’s Favorite Highway Oasis. South of the Border features a reptile lagoon, a wedding chapel, a 200-foot high Sombrero Observation Tower, and a golf course, in addition to the standard amenities.
4. Whiskey Pete’s (Primm, NV)
On the border of California and Nevada is where you’ll find this non-traditional truck stop. Whiskey Pete’s features a number of casinos (you’re in Nevada, after all), along with outlet stores, hotels, a 24-hour restaurant, a gas station, a business center, and even a roller coaster.
5. Sapp Bros. (Sidney, NE)
Like many of the stops on this list, this massive travel center is located along Interstate 80 in western Nebraska, near the Colorado border. Superior customer service is a priority for Sapp Bros., and the company prides itself on its clean and high-quality restrooms in particular.
